作品英文描述:This painting was created in 1982 during the time a film was being shot in Sanhe, Sichuan. It is an on-the-spot painting of a real-life scene. Ink was used sparingly as if it were as precious as gold, yet the artist’s skills are demonstrated. At that time, the News Film Studio of China was shooting a documentary exclusively about the artist Wan Ko Yee.
The cameramen and others present saw a wild duck alight upon a withered tree trunk. Wan Ko Yee immediately lifted His brush and promptly finished the entire painting. By the time the wild duck raised its wings and flew away, this painting had already been completed. Moreover, the artistic prowess this artwork embodies is extraordinary. It not only perpetuates the elegance, purity, and high-quality of traditional paintings, it also expresses a new style. People who saw Wan Ko Yee create this painting were greatly surprised. They highly praised Him for having artistic skills and conceptions resembling but surpassing those of Bada Shanren (a famous Ming Dynasty painter). They also highly praised Him for His scholarly style that even excels the scholarly style reflected in ancient stone seals. At the time, the artist Wan Ko Yee was still in His early youth and was praised in the newspapers as a young hero. However, people did not know then that Wan Ko Yee is H.H.Dorje Chang Buddha III, as we now know.

Wielding the brush freely and effortlessly, the artist used only a small number of brush strokes to depict this relaxed and delightful motif. Spring is in the air, the sun shines gently, the breezes are pleasant, and branches are sprouting leaves. A group of sparrows perched on branches are enjoying themselves to their hearts’ content. As a poem states.” On a sunny day with light wind, nobody has any cares. This enrapturing scene of nature is for all to enjoy, yet only birds are having fun playing about.” These birds look calm and at ease as they chirp softly and call out loudly. They seem to be heartily singing a light melody. All of this makes for a lovely and peaceful scene that is full of life, leisurely, highly elegant, and deeply absorbing. This artwork is in the “Fanpu” style.

The “Fanpu” style (返璞派)
These paintings express the artistic conception of returning to original purity and simplicity. With unfettered hand and mind, the artist applies his most mature skills free of the slightest attachment and with minimal, natural strokes of the brush.

The painting “Cat of Unique Charm” was created in 1991 and belongs to the “Fangfa School,” one of the 16 schools of painting founded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III . Except H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III , no one else can paint using this marvellous technique. Magical appeal underlies this painting. This creative technique comes from a state of wisdom. That is why it is not an ordinary painting. The accompanying scene near the cat was painted with only a small number of brush strokes yet contains the style of stone seals and an air of scholarship. Both the form and spirit of the scene are captured. This work is truly one in which ink was masterfully used in a sparing way. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has decided not to make this genre of magically charming paintings anymore. He has not since created another work of unsurpassed artistry in this same genre. Thus, this painting is a form of art that has been discontinued. One of the one hundred limited release copies of this small-scale painting “Cat of Unique Charm” sold at auction for US$253,000, which is the highest per square foot selling price of any duplicate painting in the world. The prices of sold duplicate paintings by the most famous first-rate masters of art in the world cannot match the prices of sold duplicate paintings by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III .
